The brightfuture-Sumnal partnership was formed out of a common desire to improve our communities by providing educational resources to underserved youth and families.

We need YOUR help to ensure that our first collaborative effort is successful. We are currently seeking funding for a summer program for Romani youth. This program will utilize the brightfuture Stronger Students model, in combination with additional enriching activities, to build the capacity of these youth to overcome obstacles and become educated and successful leaders of their community.

Throughout the world there is great need in Roma communities like Topaana, where 90% of residents live below the poverty rate and basic needs go unmet. However, from where you sit, your office, your home, you cannot ensure that children are not forced to dig through trash piles for food, shoes, and blankets or that families have basic health care. You cannot assist the 70% of women in the community who experience domestic violence or the 50% of children who drop out after 5th grade.

What you CAN do is support the development of Romani leaders, those who live here, work here, who know the people here, and can stay here. From where you sit, your office, your home, you can’t make a long-term change without them. Likewise, they will need your help to make a long-term change in their community.

For one student, the cost for this intensive program is $75. You will receive a photo and a personal message of thanks from each student that you send, as thanks for your generosity.


A donation of $2 or more will secure your membership in Friends of Sumnal and you will receive monthly updates on how your money is making a difference in the lives of the community members of Topaana.
